Shenanigans is #9 in the Brooklyn Bruisers series and features Charli and Neil. Full disclosure...I have not read the other books in the series and I was able to follow along. I might have had a few questions, but none that really impeded the story. 

Neil is a professional hockey player and heir to billions of dollars while Charli also plays hockey,, she can barely make rent. But despite their differences they are friends...who got married in Vegas. Charli is determined to end their marriage as quickly as possible but after the initial panic, Neil isn't so sure.  The evolution of Charli and Neil's relationship is perfectly written. Engaging and interesting. 

Humor. Romance. Sports. Friends to lovers. Fake relationship. All the makings of a great story.

Fair Catch was everything! Sports romance, enemies to lovers, swoon worthy characters, and all the angst!

This was a great read and I literally couldn’t put it down. I’m a huge fan of Ms. Steiner and she didn’t disappoint with this one. I can’t wait to see what’s next:

They told me he was dead, and I believed them.
Two weeks later, the first book arrived.
There was no postmark, no return address, but I knew it was from him. I’d been holding a copy the day he set fire to my soul in a stolen car on the edge of darkness. When for twelve hours the world had sparked with light and colour before they’d shrouded it in black again.
After that, they appeared once a month, and it was always the same book, just different versions. Some had discreet covers. Others were straight-up classics. French, German, Italian, Arabic… Every translation you could think of.

Most were torn with age, but a few had been newly reprinted that year. No two copies were identical, but the story never changed because it was our story now. They’d turned him into the villain, and me into a footnote: framed for a crime we didn’t commit, and then punished and kept apart for years because of it.

Jameson is the last single man in his friend group, after he watched his three best friends find love. I loved that we FINALLY got Jameson and Madelyn’s story!! 

This book is a slow burn and an opposites attract love story, and I devoured it! I loved that Jameson was an alpha males but also a giant teddy bear. I’m so sad that this ends another phenomenal series from Lacey Black! I am so happy I found her books and I will continue to read them all!!

This story takes you on a wild ride. I liked this story, I like that the heroine, Laila, was stronger than she seemed. She had been through hell and was fighting to take her life back.

While I enjoyed the story, I didn’t love it. I found myself losing interest and needing to take breaks and get reinvested. I do love this author and I want to get the second part of their story!

I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers romance and this one was an amazing read. I loved the tension and angst between the characters. This made it impossible to put down.
