BLOG TOUR: IN THE GARDEN OF DISCONTENT by Lily White

Title: In the Garden of Discontent
Author: Lily White
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: February 19, 2020

A barbaric love story of mangled hearts, who despite standing in ravaged lives, find love in stolen hours in the darkness of night. It hurt my heart to go on, yet I couldn't stop. ~ Shabby, Book Bistro Blog A truly unique, unpredictable, raw, heartbreaking and utterly riveting read! ~ Kitty Kats Crazy About Books A love with no limits, no restrictions and no bounds. A pure unconditional love. This story is so devastatingly heartbreaking. It is raw, gritty and disturbing. ~ Literati Literature Lovers
This is a love story.
It’s brutal.
Heartwrenching.
Terrifying, honest, and raw.
But a love story nonetheless...because it is so beautiful.
Ensley:
Noah Carter was the type of guy that every girl wanted.
Gorgeous. Talented. Smart and kind.
He was the world that revolved around me even though I didn’t deserve him.
But then something went wrong.
He snapped maybe, just lost his mind.
I found him the night my family died, their blood staining his hands.
I put him in prison. I got my revenge.
But then years later he broke free and stole me away from my life.
Noah:
You couldn’t know Ensley without wanting to strangle her.
She was beautiful. She was wild. She was the girl next door.
I grew up with her by my side.
I watched her destroy herself while I held on.
I protected her when she had been blind to the danger that surrounded her.
I let her go once, only to find her again.
She would see me this time no matter what.
Leaning down, Noah trapped my bottom lip between his teeth, the hold a punishment, the sting a balm. A part of that ugliness inside me fractured, that tiny amount of pain enough to knock something loose until its was rolling around and rattling.

Opening my lips with his, he swept his tongue into my mouth, filling me with his taste.

I was held up only by his grip on my shirt, balanced only by the strength of his arm and shoulder. My head fell back as he kissed along my jaw and down my neck, teeth scraping the skin, his bite sinking into my shoulder.

Lifting his head, he pressed his mouth against mine and moved to shove me against the wall, trapping me in place.

“I won’t fight you anymore, Ens.”

Noah spoke against my mouth, his knee coming up between my legs, spreading them until he could bring it up further. I rubbed against him, desperate to soothe the throbbing pulse that beat for only him, but he grabbed my hip with his other hand and held me still.

“Not anymore. You want to feel something? You need a release? I’ll give it to you, but not like this. I’m not a teenage boy whose hand can be forced. Not by you, and not by anyone.”

Our pain had raised the boy, but prison had shaped the man.

Tears welled in my eyes, the need so overpowering, that I slapped at him with my hands. He didn’t wince at my blows, he only pushed me tighter against the wall trapping my body with his own.

“Please...” The word tumbled from my lips, my body crumpling against him.

In the Garden of Discontent is a full length stand alone. It is everything I would want in a dark romance and so much more. It is an unconventional love story, full of twists and turns that broke my heart. I loved every heart wrenching moment of this book and if I’m honest I was sad to see it end. It’s one of those stories that you wish you could read again for the first time. I don’t want to say too much because I believe if you choose to read it m, you should go in blind. I know it’s not for everyone but if you like dark romances you need to read this book! This is my favorite book by Lily to date. I cannot wait to see what she releases next.

Lily White is a romance writer who likes to dabble on the taboo side of eroticism. She is most known for her Masters Series, Target This, Wishing Well, and Asylum. In addition to dark romance Lily writes contemporary romance, taboo romance, and psychological thrillers. Lily enjoys stretching her writing muscles by continuing to challenge herself with each book she publishes.

REVIEW TOUR: JUST ONE YEAR by Penelope Ward

Reviewer: Kim
Rating: 5 Stars

You can never go wrong with a Penelope ward book. There always light, swoon worthy, light drama and have good banter in. This book was exactly what that was and what I expected it to be like.
The characters in this book were slightly more complexed than what id usually expect from the author which I loved as it created a lot more emotion in it for me.
The book was a slow burn college romance with angst. Which in my opinion you can't go wrong with. I just wish the angst had been more in-depth than what it was but for the story it was ok.
I loved Caleb. He was a great all round guy but I wish he'd had a bit more edge to his personality. Who can resist a gorgeous British exchange student though?!.
Overall the story was good. A bit slow in places but still good.

Excerpt:
The invitation was unexpected.  She naturally assumed that once morning came, he would be eager to leave and that her intense connection to him was one-sided.  “You want to take me to breakfast?” she asked, with a kinked brow and playful smile.
“Yeah.  Unless you’re sick of me already.”
“Of course not.”  She offered him a deep kiss, hoping to keep him interested.  “Stay here and relax.  I need to jump in the shower.  I won’t be long.  I promise.”
She tilted her face up into the hot spray of water and pushed her fingers through her wet hair.  She closed her eyes while her subconscious drifted off and replayed the previous evening with Nick in her head.  The rumble of the shower doors abruptly startled her back to reality, and Nick stepped inside to join her.  She turned toward him and folded her arms in front of her body to shield the scars from her accident.
“Stop doing that.”  Nick took her arms and placed them around his waist and kissed her amidst the steamy water.
They lathered and washed each other, slowly, sliding the soapy water over the curves of each other’s body.  It was sensual, not sexual.  His kiss penetrated her mouth, while the water pelted off her back and splashed onto him.  Her hand traveled over his sleek wet chest, and just when it was about to travel further downward, he removed it from his body and kissed the palm of her hand.  He stepped out of the shower, unfolded the large bath towel and held it open for her.  She looked at him quizzically for a moment before exiting the shower.
He wrapped the bath sheet around the both of them and hugged her close to him.  She felt familiarity in his arms. Warmth and security.  They stood on the plush bathmat with their naked bodies pressed against one another.  Nick held her in his arms without moving or making a sound for a long time, then he left her with a gentle kiss and the towel and strolled into the bedroom to dress.
Heather’s eyes followed his bare round butt cheeks as he walked away from her, and she realized that she was beginning to fall for him.  Her defense mechanism kicked in, and she reminded herself that she barely knew him . . . and he was young.  She wondered how old he was, maybe 25.  He was probably only still here for sex.  After yesterday, why else would he be here?  But he just passed up a perfect opportunity in the shower.  He was visibly aroused, and she was clearly receptive.  They could have easily had a third encounter, but he didn’t pursue it, and now they were going to breakfast.

Jealousy is a story about friendship. Justin and Heather have been best friends forever. Justin is gay and was picked on when they were growing up and Heather has always been there to take up for him. They shared a strong, unique bond that most of their significant others couldn't understand. Heather is married but not necessarily happily so. Justin was in a committed relationship but that ended badly and now he seems afraid to commit. Will they be able to find a partner that can accept their friendship?

I loved Heather and Justin! Their bond was so sweet, you could tell how much they loved each other. They would do anything for one another and heaven help anyone who tried to hurt or come between them. Heather and Justin went through so much together. They experienced all of life's tragedies and successes together. They only wanted the best for one another.

This was a great read, full of angst, heartbreak and happiness. I couldn't put this book down, I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next. I love Ms Galicki's writing style and Jealousy exceeded every expectation I had. This is a great story about friendship and true love.

I loved the ending! Not to give anything away but both Justin and Heather find their HEA.   I cannot wait to see what Ms Galicki releases next.

This story was fantastic. It was intensely emotional and absolutely riveting from beginning to end.
The author is so talented. She managed to write a flawless angst filled novel that had quite a lot of trigger points in like Alzheimer's, death and war perfectly and a gentle touch.
I adored Willow and Cam. There story wasn't waistband at points your wondering if they will ever get there happy ever after. Following them throughout all there troubles was intense but rewarding to. Yes some times I became frustrated with them and wanted to scream at my kindle to make them just speak up but that was part of the journey and what made it so great
Willow and Cam had great chemistry and so easy to fall in love with. There connection was palpable and I loved flipping each page andseeing them each get stronger and stronger after each page.
The story did have twists and turns and some very unexpected moments to keep you hooked.
The author blended so many touch subjects together perfectly. This book was unexpectedly perfect.
Can't wait to see what the author does next.

Meet Rebecca Yarros

I’m a hopeless romantic and adore all things chocolate, coffee and paleo. No, seriously, I need to have a caffeine IV put in. I’ve adored reading all my life, and writing naturally evolved from my love of late nights and promises of one more page.

I’m also a military wife of sixteen years. During my husband’s deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I was devouring a book a day, and during his third deployment, I finally wrote my own. With a somewhat ironic timing, I received my book deal for Full Measures during his fourth deployment, and published a month after he returned home. We’re currently preparing for his fifth deployment, so check out the blog for the latest!

On the homefront, we have six kids. Yes, you read that right—six. If I’m not writing or playing guitar, I’m usually tying hockey skates for our four boys, or sneaking in John Hughes marathons with my two daughters. We fostered and adopted our youngest daughter from the foster system and we’re passionate about helping others do the same through our non-profit, One October! We’re always busy navigating the winding road of our daughter’s recent autism diagnosis, getting our boys to hockey, prepping for a deployment, and generally trying to stay sane. We’re die-hard Mets fans, but our hearts call Colorado home.
