But it was more... A forbidden romance! Forbidden on multiple levels he was her boss, then her professor. Oh and an age difference! I was fascinating to watch it play out.
Blake **sigh** Broken men always grab my heart, hoping love will heal them, fix them. This one well I thought it would until a meddling ex-bi#@h comes into the picture.

Erin Oh I really liked this sweet independent girl but she has her insecurities and that ex played on them, she nearly crumbled.

Just when I thought all would be ok I am hit with WTH? ending!

Can't wait for the next one!

Cruel Fortune is the second book in the Cruel Trilogy. This book was amazing and had me flipping pages to get to the end. As usual, Ms. Linde, had filled this book with all of the angst, drama, and twists and turns that I expect from her stories.

This book is about Natalie. She’s a best selling author and living out her dreams until her agent says she has to go back to New York City. This is the one place she never wanted to go to again. Her plan was to go take care of her book release and then leave as soon as possible. However she realizes that she needs this city for inspiration for her next book.

I loved this book so much. It had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. It was full of so many twists and turns that my head was spinning wondering how it would end. It is filled with great characters. Some loves me and some reprehensible but they each added so much to the story.


If you are looking for something different in a billionaire story you have to read the Cruel trilogy. I cannot wait to read the last book to see how this all plays out.

I have been waiting for this book. I saw the blurb and was intrigued but the book hadn't released. Uuugh! But wait it's part of a series so I had time to go read the first 2. It was unnecessary because this story could standalone on its own but beneficial for back story on other characters and such.
So anyway here it is I have book that originally started my fascination with this author and her incredible characters.
I loved it!! It was a love story but also a story of strength to overcome your past and loss. (Inner strength seems to be a theme with this author and I LIKE IT!)
Tanner and Charlotte had a bumpy road both had person baggage and needed to get their own heads straight before they were going to be good together. I enjoyed watching them battle inner wars to be together. Tanner was a hothead with a romantic side that made me swoon. Charlotte was a sweet girl with secrets in her that kept her from moving on with a happy life. 
Usually you read a story and broken characters come together and fix each other but in this one they fixed selves so they could be together.
A great story with action packed moments that were a fantastic addition to a beautiful love story.
I hope this series continues! There is a character who needs story and hope he is next!

Charlotte “Watch out!” One of the football-playing boys jumped backwards to reach for his friend’s overthrown pass and crashed into my tray. My soda spilled all over my shirt, soaking the ends of my hair. Sauce from the pizza remnants on my plate smeared against my chest. All the boys shouted in unison, as if they were at a live football game, making me feel all the more horrified. So much for blending in. “Nice throw, dipshit!” Mallory screeched to the boy who had thrown the football. “Come on. We’re going to be late.” I picked up the empty cup from the floor and tossed it into the trash as I walked toward the exit. I took the door Mallory was holding open for me and walked outside. “Alright, how dumb do I look?” “Dumb, no. Wet rat, yes.” Great. We walked briskly down the path, attempting to make it to our building before Professor Ballard started calling attendance. Everyone would already stare at us for walking in after the lecture began; my soaked and sauce-stained shirt would only cause them to stare longer. Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps hitting the sidewalk behind me. Clutching my purse, I spun around. Both confusion and curiosity collided in my mind. Tanner Brooks was chasing after me.

I loved the 2 books before this but this one is my favorite by far. A beautiful love story with rocky moments to keep it interesting.
A fiesty insecure girl afraid of love but falling for a gorgeous hunk of biker!
A tough on the outside mushy in the middle biker not looking for commitment but falling for the shy not part of his world girl.
They didn't start under conventional circumstances. They didn't know each other. They were total opposites. 
BUT
They were drawn to each other. They were unmistakably HOT together. 
AND
There was a little one on the way!
I loved watching Honey fight it she couldn't resist him. A for effort as she tried to keep it platonic.
I fell HARD for Caleb!!! His sweet side, his alpha side, his sexy side, even his dumba$$ man side.
This story had everything all wrapped up in a fantastic love story. Mystery, angst, action and laugh out loud moments. What more could you want?
The next one looks to be an emotional one. Penny Dee please be careful with my heart.


Excerpt

As he waited for his breathing to calm, I took a moment to marvel in the bulk of the man lying on top of me. My fingers slid across golden skin colored with a collage of intricate pictures, symbols and words. My palm curved around strong deltoid muscles that were well-rounded and powerful. He was big. Strong. Lethal. And probably not interested in being the father of my baby.
The thought made me shift uneasily beneath him. I had to get out of there. I needed to be alone to collect my thoughts and find my senses. I wiggled and Caleb rolled off me. I thought he would let me go but he didn’t. Instead he turned my face towards him and kissed me hard on the mouth.
But I was leaving. I sat up and began looking for my panties on the floor. Finding them wedged under the corner of the bed, I slipped them on and began hunting for my skirt.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“I have to go.”
“Why are you always running away from me?” He said, an amused sparkle in his eyes. “Will I see you again?”
I paused and looked at him over my shoulder. “Do you want to?”
He grinned and I was momentarily taken back by how beautiful it was.
How beautiful he was.
“Hell darlin’, I don’t want you to leave.”
I resumed looking for my skirt. “I have to leave. I have things to do.”
I found my skirt in a tangle with my shirt at the foot of the bed. 
“At least let me give you a ride home.” He sat up.
“Its fine. I can call a cab.” I stood up and slipped my shirt on.
“I’m not letting you take a cab.”
“Really its fine.”
He climbed off the bed, unfazed by his nakedness, and began looking for his boxer shorts. I paused to drink in the fine display of his muscular body and his still swollen manhood swinging between his powerful thighs. It was obvious he took very good care of his body.
He slipped on his jeans and by the time I had buttoned my blouse and found my phone and shoes, he was fully dressed and securing his wallet chain to his jeans.
“Ready?” He asked.
There was no point arguing.
As he opened the bedroom door, I mentally braced myself. I wasn’t looking forward to the walk of shame through the clubhouse. But the hallway was quiet and the clubhouse was still. Sometime in the night the music had stopped and the party had wound down.
As soon as I entered the bar, the stench of last nights partying hit me like a bat to the face and I had to hold my breath.  The bar was littered with snoring bikers and the odd club girl asleep where they had passed out. Bottles lay scattered and spilled everywhere. Stale booze and body odor were ripe in the air. Caleb took my hand and led me through the mess, stepping over discarded bottles and sleeping bodies. Musty smoke glittered in the dusty rays of sunlight bursting into the room from a window above the jukebox.
Across the room, an older biker was quietly having sex with a large, partially dressed woman up against the pool table. His jeans were down around his ankles and his eyes were closed as he lazily rocked into her. The slap, slap of her large wobbly boobs against the pool table broke the stillness of the morning.
Further away, a naked woman lay slumped at the base of a stripper pole with everything open and on display. She hugged a half-spilled bourbon bottle and snored loudly. As we passed by her, Caleb shook his head and grabbed a discarded shirt from a nearby chair to cover her.
“Is she alright?” I whispered.
“Yeah, that’s Candy. It’s not the first time she’s passed out there and it won’t be the last.”
  I glanced around me. This place. These people. This was Caleb’s world. And it reeked of bad choices. Nausea roiled in the pit of my stomach and I barely made it outside in time before losing the contents of my stomach.
“Jesus, are you okay?” Caleb asked, coming up behind me.
I gestured for him to give me a moment as another wave of nausea washed over me and I vomited again.
“You drink too much?” he asked when I finally straightened and walked over to him. “I don’t remember you being drunk.”
I shook my head. “I didn’t drink a thing.”
He handed me a helmet. “Are you okay to ride? Or do you need a minute?”
“I’ll be okay.”
He led me over to a row of motorcycles parked alongside the clubhouse. His was a big black beast with lots of chrome gleaming in the early morning light.
Before he climbed on, he touched my hand. “Are you sure you’re ok?”
I smiled brightly but it was fake because I felt weird. Out of place. I didn’t belong there.
“Yes. I’m fine.” I said, very aware that I needed to get out of there. I did up my helmet and climbed onto the back of his bike. “Lets ride.”

With the very tips of my fingers, I drag them down her arm to her elbow. I wrap my hand around her and pull her impossibly closer. Her head nestles against my chest as we sway to the music.
I keep her on the dance floor for at least four songs, unwilling to let her go. Thank God, they were all slow, because I don’t think I’m ready to really feel her move. Even now, with us merely rocking back and forth, her body feels so damn good pressed up against mine—and don’t even get me started on the way she occasionally presses her nails into my chest.
On song five, my luck runs out. The bass thumps low as she spins and presses her back into my front. Jenny may struggle to talk around me, but her body is saying all the things her words don’t. She swivels her hips as the tempo climbs, and the semi I’ve been sporting is in real danger of rivaling the damn tent the reception is being held in.
Seemingly unaware of my mental—and physical—struggle, Jenny keeps right on grinding her ass into me. Deciding to go with it, I palm her hips and move with her. Forgiven is a fairly quick read with the second chance premise. Lily and Bowen were high school sweethearts when a tragic accident severed their romance.  Ten years later they still live in the same town and are being thrown together to celebrate the marriage of their loved ones. 

Overall I like the book though I felt like it was missing a little of the Carrie Aarons' zing. At 27, Lily appeared to be a puppet like you would expect from a younger character, dancing to everyone else's whims. I spent most of the book willing her a backbone.  I liked Bowen and can totally relate to the 30-something thoughts of not being satisfied. He mostly made up for my frustration with Lily. 

The separation...well, that also bugged me but I can't quite put my finger on why.  But apart from that, the book is worth reading. Carrie Aarons is usually a 5 star read for me though this one left me a little let down, but not all books can hit the sweet spot.  Still a solid 3.5 - 4 ish stars.
