It touches on subjects that might make some uncomfortable but it was done in a way worked.
My heartbroke for our heroine she was so lost in the world. She wanted to be loved because se hadn't been in so long. She was self-destructive.
Our hero had his own issues to work through.
And the heat was scorching!! Like light a cigarette and take a cold shower hot.
