The definition of guilty pleasure as defined in the dictionary is something, such as a movie, television program, or piece of music, that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard.
I find the lack of respect for romance novels ridiculous BUT if I admit one of my favorite "guilty pleasures" is an Amo Jones book. And Fliptrick is no exception. Angsty drama! And I found myself reliving the drive-through scene from 'Dude, Where's My Car' and then? And then? And then? Drama, and more drama, and holy cow let's throw in some more. The only thing this Jones novel is missing is the heavy dark aspect that many of her books hold. There is a bit of weight...but no darkness (and it's perfectly A-ok!)
The dynamics between Maddox and Amethyst would be way too much if I were in Amethyst's shoes but I'll be damned if they don't make for some great reading and the perfect combination of a "can't put-it-down" read. Total alpha male meets the IDGAF what anyone thinks, pink haired beauty and it's instant sizzle.
Whew. And seriously this one will leave your mind whirling. It's not dark as a lot of Jones' books, however, there are a few gut twisty scenes. Maddow and Amethyst seem like pawns in a world out to get them. The angst is heavy... The drama is off the charts... but overall I was addicted from the first page. The history, the relationships, the twists and turns makes for an intense read. I never feel like I can talk about details in a Jones novel...every bit seems to loop into another detail and before you know it the details are like dominoes; spill one and the whole group goes.
If you like a sweet little HEA wrapped up with a tiny white bow then turn around and walk away, Amo is not the author for you. BUT if you like a heart racing, chest squeezing read, full of dynamic characters and a little bit of naughty (ok...a lot of naughty) then this one is definitely a MUST.
