RATING: 4 stars
I haven't read a lot of mafia books but I do enjoy the dark wrong side of the law stories. These are not heroes who worship their women. They are bad men who if lucky find a lady to love and give them a softer side at times but they are never a good guy!
Hayley Faiman is fantastic at writing these type stories. She writes A$$hole men, men you want to choke, throat punch and scream at the heroine to leave him and don't look back BUT..
Somehow she turns it around, we see their soft side, we see them fall and we fall and suddenly we are rooting for the A$$hole!! It's crazy and I love her for it.
This one had me all over the place I wanted to throttle Gavino!! Seriously wanted to kill him he was all business and "family" and treated Luciana like crap (as if her father had done enough of that) but I started seeing through him.
And that's when the authors magic came in I was falling, he was falling and lord knows she had already fallen. It certainly wasn't a hearts and flowers romance by any means this was brutal and ugly but left my heart happy.
I have my fingers crossed for more!!
About the Author:
I was born and raised in a small farming town in California. I met my husband when I was 16 and he was 19. We married four years later and have two little boys! We lived in Oregon for a few years while he served in the US Coast Guard.
Texas is now where we call home, where our boots rest, and where we’re raising our two little boys and a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.
