Synopsis
SHE GREW UP THINKING SHE WAS HUMAN
Born with the ability to command the wind, Nicole Bonham spends her life hiding her gift. Deciding to take control of her power, she dispenses her own brand of vigilante justice in Chicago’s worst neighborhoods. Stealth and surprise are always on her side.
UNTIL A CHANCE ENCOUNTER WITH A WARRIOR DEMON
Lash demon Gunnar prowls Earth and several supernatural realms to help maintain peace among the immortal species. His chance encounter with Nicole creates a hurricane of sparks between them, and he can’t let her out of his sight until he discovers her true identity. In his two hundred years, he has never seen a creature like her.
PLUNGES THEM BOTH INTO A FIGHT FOR HER LIFE
Nicole and Gunnar race to discover who - or what - is stabbing the city's most destitute residents and stealing their blood. The fire that forged their bond explodes into white-hot passion, weaving their souls together on an unexpected level. Haunted by the past, Gunnar's fiercely protective instincts battle with her need to defeat the creatures she was born to fight. As they track the mastermind behind the attacks, will Nicole’s unique talent unwittingly send her straight into his lair?
"But the jolt of power from the blond woman floored him. The lingering trace of it piqued his curiosity because he did not recognize it. She wasn't a demon, vampire, or shifter."
My Review
If you like hot erotica then this book is for you. I have to admit that this did not detract a bit from the story behind Gunnar and Nicole's relationship. Gunnar is a Lash demon and is here on Earth to help rid us of other types of demons up to no good and he sees and scents a creature of unknown origin who looks like a human. This turns out to be Nicole, to him she smells of peaches. The attraction between them is almost instantaneous and hot, hot, hot!
"He smelled like leather and smoke and woods on a rainy night. She inhaled his scent, her body responding to the heat rolling of his, the intensity making her feel like they were right back on the dance floor."
It would also seem as if Demons also mate for life as do other supernatural creatures which adds to the story line. I like the love, honor and loyalty represented by a life mate. I also enjoyed the trip into the "fairy" realm.
It was interesting to see some of the different fae folk described and even a nice little legend on how the river nymphs and the tree nymphs evolved from one species and why. This book is very graphic and detailed so if you are easily offended do not read it. I personally found the book an enjoyable read and look forward to reading about all the other sisters, bring them on Sharon Kay!
