Gabriel joins his brothers for a drink at a local bar. He's thirty five and very single. Good looks and a good job mean the ladies are generally lining up every night, which is just the way he likes it, straight sex, no complications.

Then their worlds collide, neither of them looking or thinking that what they need is each other, but the chemistry is instant and overwhelming and has the possibility to consume and destroy them both. Can they overcome both their pasts to survive the future, together? Is the amazing, mind blowing sex enough? Join Lauren and Gabriel on their emotional, funny, sexy, and traumatic journey as they try to conquer the demons from their past and try to build a future together. "I'm your Band Aid, not your Plaster."

I read this book for an honest review and WOW!  I really liked this book!!  I cried, laughed, and wanted to throw things throughout this book! Sex in the hot tub, sex in the shower, sex in the bed, sex in..well you get my drift!!   Lauren is a 40-something wife and mother.  She married when she was very young after finding out she was pregnant.  She was completely in love with her husband, Jason even after 20 plus years of marriage.

"Looking back now, I know I should have acted years ago but the truth of the matter is simple, I love him."

Like a typical abused wife, she tries to justify to herself why he abuses her, physically and mentally. As the years progress, Jason becomes more physically abusive and has started to pull away emotionally.

"Too scared to talk in case I say something that pisses him off and it escalates into an act of violence towards me, my nerves are shattered; I am lost and lonely, I thought he was my best friend, but apparently I was totally wrong on that score, I spend all of my time close to tears."

Lauren finally realizes that she needs to leave the marriage before it gets worse.  She goes out the night before she is going to leave her husband with all her girlfriends to tell them what she is about to do.  Lauren meets Gabe out one night with the girls.  There is an instant connection between Lauren and Gabe.  I'm talking fireworks, explosions, time stopping connection!  The heat that is in Gabe's eyes when he looks at Lauren was definitely felt in my goody spots!!

"The whole bar and it's occupants seem to vanish around us as he uses the pad of his thumb to wipe away a tear under my eye then he puts his thumb in his mouth and sucks, never breaking eye contact with me...Oh my god, that was..possibly..one of the sexist things I have ever seen!"

After a night of drinking and dancing with her friends, and of course some hot flirting with Gabe, Lauren decides that she can't start anything without first leaving her husband.  Gabe helps her out by offering a place for her to rent when she leaves her husband.  The decide to meet the next day to look at it.

"I wanna hear you beg me for more, I wanna hear you scream, and I wanna hear you cry out my name when you come."
"I can't wait for Gabriel Wilde to make me cry out loud with pleasure."

Her husband is not yet home when she gets there.  She is abruptly awoken to her husband trying to "knock of a piece." She tells him no and tries to push him off.  After a beat down from hell, he passes out.  Lauren grabs whatever she can and leaves.  She calls her best friend to come and get her.  Her friend insist that she be taken to the hospital.  Now let's talk about the CRAZY soon to be ex husband!  He stalks her like no other!!  He calls, texts, and visits all of her friends looking for her.  Gabe offers for her to stay with him at his house where she will be "safer".  We all know what that means!!

"What exactly are you doing here, Mr. Suntanned Surfer Dude Type sex God..what was it, did you think offering me somewhere to live wasn't enough to insure you got your leg over, did you think by coming over here to do The Desperate Housewife another favor you would seal the deal?

Lauren and Gabe are a couple destined to not make it from the moment they meet.  Both has serious trust issues stemming from their pasts and Lauren has issues about her age.  She is 10 years older than Gabe!  Go COUGAR!!! Who wouldn't have some insecurities with a hot younger man prowling around you when you are a bit older!  Gabe was a bit of a man whore in the past and that included married women sometimes.  Lauren tries hard to look past that especially when he is adamant about it all changing after meeting her.

"I haven't had a meaningful relationship with a woman, other than my daughter, my mother, and my sister in my entire life.  And then you turn up and from the instant I set eyes on you, you've flipped my world on it's fucking head."

Lauren and Gabe's relationship is definitely on the fast track.  They go from meeting each other one night to three days later living together to 2 weeks later confessing their love of one another.  Gabe's past still keeps being an issue with women popping up everywhere they go and Lauren's husband has not let up.  Through it all the continue to form a very strong bond.  Learning that trust and honesty is the only way that they can ever get past their insecurities and move on into a lasting relationship.  The craziness doesn't end even at the end and I can't wait to read more about Lauren and Gabe and see where they take us.

"You do things to me Lauren, that no woman has ever done, you do things to me here," points to his head,  "And here," his stomach.  "But most of all, the biggest effect of all, is what you do to me here." he places my hand, palm down, flat, on his beating heart."

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It's a whole new way of life for us down here,we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football...The round ball version; I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work; I am also rather partial to a glass... or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.
