After escaping to a college town, Juliana Petersen was determined to put her troubled past behind her and make the most of life. She was satisfied with her current situation, or so she thought. It wasn’t until the day her new photography professor stole her parking spot that she realized there was such thing as lust at first sight. Now, she must struggle with the decision to break the rules and fall in love, or step back and let the chance of a lifetime pass her by—all while her past relationships come back to haunt her.
How many men will it take to break Julia’s hold on reality?
Warning: This novel contains sexual situations and is meant for adult readers ages 18 and up.
A forbidden romance, HOT and sexy twins, a damaged past, and steamy sex scenes are all a part of Shuttered Affections. This book started off a little slow for me, but from about 50% it gets so good and really takes off!! I would almost call this a set-up/background book. We get information about the main character's, Julia and Aiden, pasts, but we still are left without how there pasts are going to affect their futures. There is a lot left open, and I cannot wait to find how the author ties it all together and what new surprises are in store in the follow-up.
Julia is a college student with a passion for photography and sculpture. She has had a horrible past, a controlling, abusive, stalker ex and parents who aren't there for her when she needed them most. However she has a great support system in her best friend Sid, who helps rescue Julia and helps her to move on and start a new life.
Aiden Stone is a new photography teacher, more specifically Julia's teacher. He's HOT and super sexy. The best part is he...is...a.....TWIN!!! He has a dirty mouth and knows how to please a woman. He will be there and protect those in his life that he loves.
Julia and Aiden (Mr. Stone) meet in the school parking lot when he swipes her parking spot. She is furious. When she finally makes it to class she realizes that the "Sexy-parking-spot-thief" is her new photography teacher. There is an instant attraction between the two, but they have to keep things quiet because of the possible consequences of a teacher/student relationship. Aiden and Julia have so much in common and really understand one another. There was no way that either one could stay away from the other.
“My body begged for him while my mind scolded me for even feeling such a primal need for his touch”
“You’re like a drug to me. I crave you.”
I was rooting for their forbidden relationship from the very beginning. There was just something about the chemistry between them. Speaking of chemistry, their sexual chemistry is off the charts! Man the sex scenes in this book will have you fanning yourself.
That ending about killed me! The author gets us all excited, and then pours ice cold water over us in the form of THE END! But what a way to hook a reader, because I can guarantee you that I will be reading the follow-up. I'm addicted, and I NEED to know how everything is going to play out!!! This book was good, but I have a feeling that Exposed Affections is going to be amazing.
Side Note: I loved how each chapter began with a quote from the chapter. It had me guessing who said it and what it meant. ( Most of the time I was wrong :( haha)
*waves* Hi, everyone! My name is Rene Folsom, Author of paranormal romance and erotica. I live in Florida with my husband and three kids. I have officially diagnosed myself with creative ADD and, if it weren't for my day job as a web programmer, I would have a million and one writing projects going at once. In addition to web design, I am also a graphic artist who loves to create custom book cover designs for indie authors. I am definitely an artist at heart and would love nothing more than to be elbow deep in clay during my waking hours. I believe that all fiction is based on some form of reality—otherwise we would never have the inspiration or knowledge to dream up the realistic situations we portray with our words. I am proud to say that my personal experiences have been inspirational, though perhaps not always identical to that of my fictional characters. Where reality and fantasy diverge, however, must remain my little secret…
