He left to travel the world for fame and glory, but only after spurning Gabby Ward and crushing her young heart. Now Hunter Markham has come back home to the sand and salty breeze of the North Carolina Outer Banks so he can open up Last Call, a beach bar nestled among the dunes of the Atlantic.

Gabby Ward is not happy that Hunter has returned. Bitter over his rebuff years before, she’s content to stay far away from him and his dangerously charming ways.

Gabby’s well-schemed plans to ignore Hunter go up in flames when he presents an offer to her that she simply can’t refuse, throwing them together in a common quest to each reach their goals. Working together day in and day out proves to be problematic for Gabby, who soon realizes that the feelings she had for him are still very much alive. Hunter struggles to reach through to Gabby’s cold heart, all while starting a new career away from his life as a top ranked, professional surfer.

What starts out as a mutual business arrangement soon turns into a passion that neither of them can continue to deny.

Hard choices lay ahead for both of them when Hunter is offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to return to the pro surfing tour.

Choices that could destroy what they have built or take them further than they ever

This is my first Sawyer Bennett book and it will definitely not be my last.  I'm already adding her other books to my ever-growing TBR pile.  On the Rocks is the first book in her new series.

5 years ago our h/H share an intense kiss until Hunter rebuffs her and crushes her.

Now Hunter is back to help his brother get situated after something tragic that happens to him (I'm super excited to read Brody and Alyssa's story, although is was kind of a dick to her so I'll be curious how it plays out)  Okay now back to On the Rocks.  After her father's death, Gabby is running his construction company.  She sees Hunter again when she puts a bid in to remodel the bar he runs with his brother.  At first there is a lot of hostility from Gabby, due to Hunter hurting her feelings before.  It made her unlikeable at first, but by the middle of the book I really liked her.  There isn't a lot of angst in this book for which I was greatful. I like angst but sometimes it's nice to read a book that has just enough drama to pull you and make the story interesting without making me want to chuck my Kindle at the wall.

The sex scenes for H-O-T!!  Hunter was amazing and I could totally picture him in his wetsuit when he was surfing.  The secondary characters were great and I'm hoping to get a book about Casey, Hunter and Brody's sister, who I think has some intimacy issues so I can't wait to find out that whole story, because there has to be, Sawyer...Hint hint!!

This was a fun, light read with some hot action and great sexual tension from the start.  Gabby's attitude can be a little off-putting at first and you're just like "Get Over It!!" but you quickly change your mind about her.  And yeah I'll say it again, I LOVE Hunter!!

So if you want to read a story about a hot retired pro-surfer and a sassy contractor then you'll want to check this out.
